Stock market holiday today: BSE, NSE to remain shut for Maharashtra Day

The first day of May marks the beginning of the month, but due to Maharashtra Day, there will be no trading in the stock market. Maharashtra was established as a state on May 1st, 1960.

The stock market is located in Mumbai. Therefore, on the occasion of Maharashtra Day, the stock market will be closed tomorrow. This means that no stocks can be bought or sold on this day.

In addition to the holidays on Saturdays and Sundays, the stock market will also be closed on May 20th. This day coincides with the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai, which is why there will be no trading activity.

On Wednesday, May 1st, there will be no trading in the commodity and electronic gold receipt segments. However, trading will remain open on the MCX for the evening session from 5:00 PM to 9:00 AM.

Apart from the holidays on Saturdays and Sundays, there will be a total of 8 additional days this year when domestic stock markets will be closed. These include May 1st for Maharashtra Day and May 20th for the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai.

Additionally, there will be one day each in June, July, August, and October when the stock market will be closed. Following this, there will be 2 days in November and 1 day in December when the market will be closed.
